Since 1998 Medigenomix provides DNA analyses for the identification for individuals and is regularly taking part in interlaboratory tests of the German Society for Juridical Medicine and the criminal institutes of the federal government and the ‘German Länder’, GEDNAP. For our analyses we use 16 genetic markers, with which an individual DNA profile is created, which exists statistically only once with 180 trillion humans. So a statistical security of the result is achieved from well over 99,9999%.

Expertise in analysis of DNA traces
Apart from the analyses of DNA traces from human material in conjunction with the GEDNAP tests we gained broad expertise in trace analysis with animal DNA based on identifying animals in cases of traffic accidents, theft, or dog attacks. We also succeeded to analyse paternity in samples of bones after cremation.

No tracing of genetic diseases possible
The DNA regions used for paternity testing are specific isolated loci on the DNA strand, where no functional genes are encoded. Therefore it is not possible to gain any information about potential genetic diseases from these results. All samples are destroyed after the test results have been finalised.
